In what other language can they be ridiculed? It is the one language common to us all. There are tiny pockets and corners where it can't or hasn't reached, but they are growing fewer and smaller all the time. Detournement is, at worst, a joyous misuse of the tools of oppression. It's like a happy whiff of that old skunk smell while you're struggling not to vomit from the stench of the sardine can in which you and your fellow consumers are trucked off to work.

Whether what the BLF does rises to the level of detournement could be debated. Whether detournement itself has been coopted is worth considering. But we have to something to use to fight or we're stuck with reaction without creativity.
